About the Authors

Angela and Michael Leone have been married for seven wonderful years. Both originally from the suburbs of Chicago, the couple met and married in San Diego, CA. They spent the first two years of married life in the sleepy beach town of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA, where they enjoyed the surf and the laid-back lifestyle of southern California. An unexpected opportunity allowed the couple to spend a year on the beautiful island of Kaua’i, Hawaii, where it occurred to them that they did not want to wait until they were 65 to retire and live the life they really wanted.

Now “pretired” in exotic Maui, HI, the couple has a two-year old boy named Jack, and they are enjoying life more than they ever could have imagined as a “pretired” family!
Throughout their adventures, the authors have learned how to enjoy many first-class experiences on the modest salaries of a graphic designer and a speech pathologist. Despite their average incomes, the couple has: honeymooned in Bali; surfed in Mexico, Hawaii, Indonesia, and Southern California; traveled to six Hawaiian islands; spent a year snowboarding the slopes of Vail; and purchased condos in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA, and Lahaina, Maui – all by the age of 30.

The authors seek to share their adventures and detailed practical advice for “pretiring” at any age. Angela Leone has written many professional reports in the course of her work as a speech pathologist, and is currently completing a general-audience book about childhood speech development.
